Weird things are afoot in the world of Apple today, some good, some bad:

  • Google finally updates Google Docs and Google Sheets for iPad to work with Split-View multitasking in iOS 9
  • Microsoft accidentally gives away the keys to the "secure back door" for Windows tablets and other devices, another reason Apple doesn't want such a back door and the FBI does
  • Some bad guys tried to get away with stealing laptops from an Apple office in Cupertino (not THAT office in Cupertino, just a small side facility)

Today was a pretty slow day for Apple news, but there are some news bits and rumors that are rather interesting:

  • Google's Chrome browser and Safari 10 are teaming up to make the inefficient and insecure Adobe Flash format a thing of the past
  • Beta 5 versions of iOS 10, tvOS 10, watchOS 3, and macOS Sierra have been released to developers
  • Foxconn is apparently working on an all-glass enclosure for the 2017 "tenth anniversary" iPhone
  • Another rumor says that Apple has nixed the idea of a single-lens camera iPhone 7 Plus, instead going with a dual-lens design.

The week starts off with a bang for Apple fans:

  • Hyundai adds support for Apple CarPlay in several older models and announces that all 2017 models with proper dash interfaces will be supported as well
  • You can get your choice really cool Rio-themed Apple Watch bands or iPhone cases from this vendor
  • No Thunderbolt 3 products have been announced by Apple yet, but Akitio will be ready when they do make an announcement
  • Tim Cook and Eddy Cue explain why we all get to test iOS and macOS now
