  • Olloclip announces an articulating mobile video grip called the PIVOT that should be available in October.
  • Griffin Technology wants to make it easy for iPhone 7 listeners to use their favorite "wired" headphones without wires with the iTrip Clip.
  • Mophie announced a bunch of new members of its Powerstation battery pack family, including one with USB-C and another that works with a wireless charging battery pack for iPhone.

Apple announces the September 7 event for the "iPhone 7", so today's show speculates on what we're likely to hear about:

  • The new iPhone might include a wireless charging technology, based on interest in Energous just after today's Apple announcement
  • The Apple Watch 2 is expected to have 35% more battery capacity, but don't expect longer battery life
  • It's unlikely that any new Macs will be announced at the event
  • Siri starts giving snarky responses when you ask about September 7

Weird things are afoot in the world of Apple today, some good, some bad:

  • Google finally updates Google Docs and Google Sheets for iPad to work with Split-View multitasking in iOS 9
  • Microsoft accidentally gives away the keys to the "secure back door" for Windows tablets and other devices, another reason Apple doesn't want such a back door and the FBI does
  • Some bad guys tried to get away with stealing laptops from an Apple office in Cupertino (not THAT office in Cupertino, just a small side facility)

Today was a pretty slow day for Apple news, but there are some news bits and rumors that are rather interesting:

  • Google's Chrome browser and Safari 10 are teaming up to make the inefficient and insecure Adobe Flash format a thing of the past
  • Beta 5 versions of iOS 10, tvOS 10, watchOS 3, and macOS Sierra have been released to developers
  • Foxconn is apparently working on an all-glass enclosure for the 2017 "tenth anniversary" iPhone
  • Another rumor says that Apple has nixed the idea of a single-lens camera iPhone 7 Plus, instead going with a dual-lens design.

  • Hyundai adds support for Apple CarPlay in several older models and announces that all 2017 models with proper dash interfaces will be supported as well

  • No Thunderbolt 3 products have been announced by Apple yet, but Akitio will be ready when they do make an announcement
