Happy first day of spring! Some of our Apple news stories for today:

  • Apple may announce a new version of Apple TV this June, featuring Siri voice control, the ability to be used as a home automation hub, more storage and a more powerful A8 system on a chip. 
  • Apple Stores are considering a way to let customers try out in-ear headphones without fear of sanitation issues.
  • Those newly upgraded MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models will no longer run Windows 7 under Boot Camp.
  • Apple shares close down 1.25% after an initial morning rise on positive Apple TV news from Morgan Stanley.

A few tidbits of Apple-related news for your Thursday:

A number of airlines are preparing Apple Watch apps to provide owners of the new device with pre and post flight information as well as flight status during their trips. 

An update is available for iPhoto, perparing the way for migration of iPhoto libraries to the new Photos app when it launches later this spring.

Antivirus and antimalware apps appear to be disappearing from the iOS App Store, and that's a good thing.

Apple replaced AT&T as part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average today.

  • Under the terms of an agreement Comcast made when it took over NBCUniversal in 2011, it might be forced to cut an agreement to offer NBCUniversal content on Apple's proposed streaming video subscription service.
  • Baird Equity Research believes that Apple could add another $30 billion in annual revenue to its bottom line by disrupting the cable industry with a streaming service.
  • Cult of Mac reports that website hijacking appears to be disrupting iOS 8 users, with JavaScript-based ads launching App Store pages without permission.
  • Find out how you'll be able to try out an Apple Watch at Apple Stores on April 10th.

  • According to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, it appears that Apple will finally offer a streaming TV service later this year, making it easier and more affordable for people to cut the cable subscriptions.
  • The Facebook Messenger app for iOS is rolling out a new feature that lets friends send money to each other. 
  • TidBITS reports that iCloud is having issues receiving messages from Gmail.
  • Apple wins a $100 million patent licensing lawsuit after losing a big one last month.

  • Watchaware compares polling for the iPad in 2010 to the Apple Watch in 2015, and finds that in both cases, 40 to 50% of those polled said they would not buy the item. The iPad has sold 200 million units so far...
  • A new documentary about Steve Jobs that debuted at SXSW over the weekend is receiving the praise of newspapers and the scorn of Apple employees who actually knew the man.
  • Limefuel announces a 24,000 mAh USB-C external battery pack for the new MacBook that should give it full-day battery life.

  • Loop editor Jim Dalrymple took the uninformed author of a Apple Watch hit piece to task on the website and on Twitter. It was glorious.
  • A new Steve Jobs biography coming out in less than two weeks provides some new insights into the late Apple founder and CEO.
  • Apple releases iOS 8.3 beta 3 to its public software beta program, the first time iOS has been included in a public beta.

  • The day-long outages of the Mac App Store, iOS App Store, iTunes Store and iBooks Store have been resolved
  • Google ships a new Chromebook Pixel, this time with two USB-C connectors
  • Jony Ive and Marc Newson will open the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference in Florence
  • Morgan Stanley and other Wall Street firms expect iPhone sales to be up about 24 percent year over year for the quarter ending March 31.
